Unconventional Curtains

As we were getting the kitchen put together, I got to put together all the finishing touches. This included deciding on curtains for the larger window (I already had a bright green valance for the small window over the sink). I couldn't really find anything I liked, patterned or solid, until I came across some green leaf patterned tablecloths at work. I know you are probably re-reading what I just wrote to confirm the fact that it does say "tablecloths." But it's not a typo...

I would probably bet that you haven't ever realized that tablecloths come in a 50in x 84in  size, which just so happens to be the size of a curtain panel. (MIND BLOWN, RIGHT???) When I came to this realization, it definitely opened up the possibilities for my curtain choices. I found a tablecloth (again, at work) the was the correct size, with a green leaf pattern that matched the kitchen perfectly!!

Since the curtains (or tablecloths) were the exact length I needed, I knew I didn't want to make a rod pocket. Instead, I found some curtain clips at Lowe's that matched the curtain rod, and I simply clipped the ironed curtain onto the clip and Ta-Da...instant curtains!

I am still in awe as to how easy this was and how wonderful it turned out! So next time you're shopping in the soft tabletop section, take quick peek to at the tablecloths to see what you might be able to do with one (ortwo) in your home!
